Surgical Preparation Instructions
While we understand surgery can be stressful for both you and your pet, we aim to provide the highest quality patient care in a stress-free environment.We require all surgical patients to be fasted - no food or water after midnight the night before surgery is scheduled. Surgical drop off is scheduled between 8:00am-8:30am the morning of surgery.
Surgery Day: Step-by-Step
1. Drop-Off
Once your pet has been dropped off with us, they will receive a full physical exam, a sedative and an IV catheter will be placed.
2. During Surgery
During surgery your pet is monitored by at least two technicians and the surgeon, with the appropriate vitals taken every 5 minutes.
3. Recovery
After surgery your pet will recover under technician supervision until they are fully alert and awake.
4. Updates
We request that you give us a call after 1pm on the day of surgery to receive an update on your pet as well as a pick up time. You are welcome to call us anytime during the day for updates.
5. Pick-Up
At pick up, a technician will go over all discharge instructions and medications with you as well as schedule any follow up appointments if needed.
