Preventative care
We recommend all adult and senior pets receive an annual exam. Dogs and cats are considered “senior” when they are about 6-10 years of age, (breed/size dependent for dogs). An annual appointment would include a full physical exam, blood work to check organ function, and a fecal test to check for intestinal parasites. Seeing your pet yearly allows us to detect changes in their health earlier, and potentially prevent certain diseases from progressing.
Some signs of underlying diseases include:

Drinking or urinating more often

Decrease in mobility

Changes in appetite/weight loss

Anxiety

New or changes in lumps/bumps

New or worsening cough
Some of these symptoms may be part of the normal aging process. However, if you notice any of these signs, or have any concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to us to have your pet be seen.
