Dr. Thomas B. McMillen (Dr. Mac) graduated from The Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1972.  His resume as a practicing veterinarian includes stops in upstate New York, Perth, Mildura, Darwin, Alice Springs, the ‘outback’ of Australia, Massachusetts, and Fayetteville, North Carolina in a practice purchased from President Jimmy Carter’s brother-in-law. Dr. McMillen purchased Mercy Animal Hospital in 1983.

Dr. McMillen’s wife, Suzanne, works at the Oaklawn Public Library in Cranston. They have two sons - Brian, who graduated from Boston University Medical School and is now a pathologist in Albany, New York, and Patrick, who recently earned his PhD in developmental biology at Yale. Both attended Oaklawn Elementary, Western Hills Middle School and graduated from Cranston West.
